Step 02

Restricted Licence Training

Ready to get rid of that L plate? Our Restricted Licence training helps you build the confidence and skills needed to pass your NZTA assessment. Ride with an experienced instructor who knows exactly what assessors look for.

Training is not compulsory but IS recommended
You can do your restricted as soon as you have your learner licence

Step 03

Full Licence

The final step. Our Full Licence assessment course polishes your riding technique and ensures you're fully prepared for the NZTA full assessment — covering higher-speed roads, complex traffic situations, and advanced manoeuvres.

Must have held restricted licence for a minimum of 9 months
Own bike must meet NZTA assessment requirements (WoF compliant)

FAQ

Everything you need to know

I don't have a bike for my basic handling course, do I need one?+

No — Revs provides training motorcycles for the basic handling course. You do not need to own or bring your own bike. All bikes are fully maintained and meet NZTA requirements.
What happens with my motorcycle theory test?+

You'll need to sit the motorcycle theory test at an AA or VTNZ testing centre before getting your learner licence. Revs can help you prepare, but the theory test is booked and sat independently through those agencies.
What if I'm sick on the day of my course?+

Please let us know as soon as possible. We understand illness happens and will work with you to reschedule. Contact us before your session start time and we'll find a new date that works for you.
What happens if I failed an assessment, but believe that I should have passed?+

If you believe the outcome was incorrect, you have the right to request a review. Speak with your instructor directly after the assessment. Formal appeals can also be lodged with Waka Kotahi (NZTA) through their official CBTA complaints and appeals process.
Can I use my own bike for my restricted or full licence assessment?+

Yes, subject to the bike meeting NZTA's requirements — it must be roadworthy, WoF compliant, and appropriate for the class of licence being assessed. Speak to us ahead of your assessment date to confirm your bike is suitable.
