NZTA-approved 2 day Class 4 heavy rigid vehicle licence in Rotorua and Paeroa — skip the six month waiting period. Full licence and logbook included.
About the course
A Class 4 licence authorises you to drive heavy rigid vehicles with a gross vehicle mass (GVM) over 18,000 kg. This covers large rigid-bodied trucks used for heavy freight, tankers, and specialised transport work.
Building on your Class 2 licence, our 2 day Class 4 course takes you through practical on-road training and prepares you for the full licence assessment — with our truck, our instructors, and all fees included.
You can obtain your Class 4 learner licence by going to a licence agent and applying to put 4L on your licence. There is no theory test to do. As long as you have presented a Medical Certificate in the past 5 years (e.g. for your Class 2 licence) you will be able to get the licence as soon as you have completed the minimum time on your Class 2 full licence.

Who needs a Class 4 licence?
A Class 4 truck licence covers heavy rigid vehicles with more than two axles — the trucks you see hauling bulk loads on NZ highways every day. It opens doors to higher-paying roles across several industries.
Large rigid trucks carrying bulk freight, aggregates, and industrial materials between locations.
Multi-axle tippers, concrete agitators, and crane trucks on major civil and roading projects.
Heavy rigid vehicles for farm produce, fertiliser, and forestry log haul operations.
Rigid tanker vehicles delivering fuel, chemicals, and liquids to farms, sites, and businesses.
Large-scale waste management, skip trucks, and resource recovery operations.
Shift heavy goods and machinery between factories, warehouses, and distribution hubs.
Your pathway
Class 4 requires a Class 2 licence first. Once you have Class 4, the next step to the highest-earning commercial driving roles is Class 5.
Must hold Class 2 before you can train for Class 4. Revs offers Class 2 training if you need it.
Heavy rigid vehicles — multi-axle tippers, crane trucks, large tankers.
